Lean and Wild Now Stocked on the High Street as Pure Brings Wild Venison to its Autumn Menu

September 2026

Pure has announced the launch of its new autumn menu, becoming the first major UK high-street food-to-go brand to introduce wild venison to its range.

Launching on 28th September, the new menu continues Pure’s focus on ‘Real Food, Real Protein’, with new and improved high-protein, nutrient dense dishes across its shops, catering and wholesale ranges.

At the forefront of the launch is Pure’s best-selling High Protein Chilli, which will now be made with a blend of British beef and British wild venison, sourced in partnership with leading UK wild venison supplier Lean + Wild.

Naturally lean and nutrient-rich, venison contains 21.5g of protein per 100g and around twice the iron of beef and lamb. Wild venison also has a significantly lower carbon footprint than beef, with analysis shared by Lean + Wild estimating emissions at 5.6kg CO₂e per kg, compared with 37.8kg CO₂e per kg for beef, an 85% reduction.

The ingredient also has a wider role to play in supporting Britain’s landscapes. The UK’s wild deer population requires active management, with high deer densities preventing woodland regeneration by eating saplings and new growth, reducing habitat diversity and affecting soil structure.

The launch follows Pure’s partnership with Wildfarmed earlier this year, which saw the brand become the first in the UK to introduce a food-to-go wrap made using regenerative, UK-grown wholemeal flour across its entire range.

Spencer Craig, Founder & CEO of Pure, said:

“Wild venison gives us something really exciting: an alternative source of protein that’s delicious, naturally lean and has a significantly lower carbon footprint than beef.

“But first and foremost, it has to taste great. Venison has a mild, rich flavour that works brilliantly in our High Protein Chilli, alongside British beef, to make a dish our customers already love even better.

“For us, Real Food, Real Protein is about making delicious food using great ingredients that naturally deliver protein and goodness. Following our work with Wildfarmed earlier this year, our partnership with Lean + Wild is another example of how we can keep improving the ingredients behind everyday food-to-go.”

Louisa Clutterbuck, Business Development Director at Lean and Wild, said:

"Wild venison is a nutritional powerhouse, and we’re delighted that Pure are taking such a forward-thinking approach by putting it on their menu. At Lean + Wild, we supply only the highest-quality wild venison, carefully sourced to deliver outstanding nutritional value while supporting a more sustainable approach to managing the UK’s growing deer population. We’re excited to see Pure helping to introduce more people to this incredibly nutritious, sustainable and delicious British protein.”

The High Protein Chilli joins a wider collection of new and improved recipes for autumn which will be available across Pure’s multi-channel business, spanning its London shops, catering service and growing wholesale range.
